Yalonda (Lonnie) Gatlin is an accomplished photographer with more than 30 years experience.
When Lonnie was a little girl, her fifth grade teacher asked what she wanted to be when she grew up. She said she wanted to be a photographer and a writer. Lonnie has professionally served as a writer, photojournalist and bio-medical photographer.
Throughout her education and career, Lonnie chose not to specialize in any particular type of photography such as portrait, food, fashion or architectural. Because of her passion for education and the many facets of photography, the door for new photographic opportunities was always open.
Lonnie’s work in photography and multi-media presentations has been recognized by organizations including the American Association of Business Communicators, the American Red Cross, BetterPhoto.com, and United Way. In 2008, Lonnie won Scott Kelby's Worldwide Photo Walk for the St. Louis region. In 2010, she won several top honors in the St. Louis Photographers Showcase sponsored by Studio Altius and Schillers. In 2012, Lonnie was selected as the Grand Champion in the SEEN Art Competition also sponsored by Studio Altius. In 2013, Lonnie took first place in the categories landscape, black and white and sports in the SEEN Art Competition also sponsored by Studio Altius. Her photos are also featured in a book, Nature's Affirmations, Inspirations of Nature, by Melanie DePorter.
Today, Lonnie enjoys nature photography as it is the perfect complement to her love for hiking. In her spare time, Lonnie donates her photography services to animal rescue groups in St. Louis by photographing homeless dogs and cats looking for their forever homes.
This website features Lonnie's favorite subject, nature. All photographs (print or digital file) are available for purchase.
